Today, developer CD Projekt Red announced that the a new playable faction, Nilfgaard, is set to arrive to GWENT: The Witcher Card Game on February 6, 2017.
The new faction will come as part of a major content update for the game. The Nilfgaard introduces a playstyle focused on maintaining control over the battlefield. The faction equips players with a set of new gameplay mechanics such as revealing cars in the opponent’s hands, controlling the order of cards in player decks, and tricky based on the use of disloyal units.
Notably, the update expands the number of cards available in the game by over 60, and includes new faction-specific cards for Northern Realms, Scoia’tael, Skellige and Monsters, as well as neutrals cards usable across every faction.
GWENT is currently available on Xbox One and PC via a Closed Beta. Players wishing to participate in the beta can register via the game’s official website. In addition to a full launch on Xbox One and PC, the Witcher card game will also release onto PS4 whenever the full launch date comes.
Additionally, if you want to see some of the changes that will implemented with the Nilfgaard Update before it releases, be sure to check out CD Projekt Red’s Twitch channel on February 1st at 12PM PST for a livestream. In the livestream, the developer will go over patch notes, talk about new cards, and build a brand new Nilfgaard deck.
