Tyler “Ninja” Blevins, Fortnite superstar and arguably the most successful gamer in the world, achieved another incredible feat as he participated at New York Fashion Week. Representing Red Bull, he walked the stage as part of an MLS uniform launch. Donning black and orange Adidas gear covered in New York Red Bulls branding, Ninja joined other models representing different MLS teams. Other notable figures at the event included football players DeAndre Hopkins and Boston Scott, as well as actors Jacob Tremblay and Colin Hanks. Even Bullseye, the official mascot of Target, made an appearance on stage.
“To walk a stage during New York Fashion Week is just another incredible achievement for me,” Ninja said. “So blessed and happy to support the New York Red Bulls and represent my Red Bull family.” One of his longest partnerships, Ninja and Red Bull joined forces in 2018. Since then, they have worked on various projects. On the coattails of the partnership announcement, Ninja hosted Red Bull Rise till Dawn, a Fortnite tournament in which players competed from sundown to sun up the next day. After, Ninja worked with Red Bull to host a special New Year’s Eve event at the end of 2018. The inclusion of Ninja in the New York fashion show is interesting, and it sparks the question of what he’ll do next.
This helps continue to bridge the gap between gaming and widespread media. The popular streamer has pulled in non-endemic brands like Adidas and shown how influential gaming is in pop culture and sports. Outside of esports, Ninja has made waves in multiple industries. From his growth on Twitch, to his switch to Mixer, and major partnerships with companies like Adidas and UberEats, it’s obvious that Ninja’s growth will affect the entirety of the gaming industry. His historical achievements will pave the way for future streamers, and introduce a deeper value to the culture around video game broadcasting.
