What’s more useful than exclusive DLC but less prettier? If you guessed the Circle Pad Pro for the Nintendo 3DS, then you are dead on. If you’re stoked to get your hands on it and prefer to avoid your local GameStop… Well, you’re going to have a problem, because the retailer will be selling it exclusively for a modest $19.99 beginning February 7, 2012.
The Circle Pad Pro adds “additional shoulder buttons to give it a feel more akin to traditional console controllers,” as well as a second analog stick to the 3DS. Numerous titles have been touted to make use of the extension, including Resident Evil Revelations and Metal Gear Solid 3D: Snake Eater, both slated for releases in early 2012.
Making the Circle Pad Pro a GameStop exclusive could mean big bucks for the retailer, but is Nintendo making another misstep in locking a piece of hardware — one that seems in the process of being phased in — exclusively to one store? What do you think?
