Nintendo announced today that, like the Nintendo DS before, the Nintendo 3DS will have an XL Version, to be released on July the 28th in Europe and August the 19th in North America.

The new console will include a a 4.88 inch top screen and a 4.18 inch bottom screen, 90% larger than the ones coming with the original 3DS. It will also come packaged with a 4 GB memory card compared to the 2 GB one included in the 3DS.

The 3DS XL will have a different rounded form factor and will be available in three color combinations: Silver/Black, Red/Black and Blue/Black. It will cost $199.99 in the US ad €199.99 in Europe.

In a move to keep prices down (and, according to Nintendo, because many fans already have a 3DS), the new console won't come with an AC adaptor in Europe (and in Japan), while the adaptor will be in the North American version.
