With a new iPhone on the horizon and an increased focus on games, Apple has announced a collaboration with one of the biggest companies in games to produce a title with one of its biggest stars.

During today's presentation from Apple's iPhone 7 event in California, Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto announced a collaboration with Apple to produce a new Mario title for iOS called Super Mario Run, which will bring over "the magic of Mario" to iOS users everywhere.

The title will present the traditional Mario gameplay as an endless runner style game, along with a new mode called Toad Rally where players can compete against each other for high scores on the in-game leaderboard.

Apple also announced that Super Mario Run will be coming to "iOS first" in holiday 2016 (with an Android release confirmed by Nintendo at a later date). The game is going to release "at a set price," to allow players to play without continuous microtransactions (though in-app purchases will be included in the game, according to its listing in the iTunes App Store).
