Remember yesterday’s widely reported rumors from Japanese newspaper about Nintendo’s smartphone announcement? Nintendo has officially shot down one of them, stating that they have no intention of bringing any sort of gaming content to rival platforms:

Nikkei’s article contains information previously stated by Mr Iwata during past press conferences, including statements which relate to Nintendo’s willingness to make use of smart devices to promote our products.

However during such past announcements Mr Iwata has also stated that Nintendo’s intention is not to make Nintendo software available on smart devices and as such, we can confirm that there are no plans to offer minigames on smartphone devices.

This statement does confirm, however, that Nintendo plans on using smartphones to promote their products, but how they will go about this remains to be seen. Most likely the investor’s meeting on Thursday will reveal such information.
