Here's Everything That Was Announced at the E3 2019 Nintendo Direct
Yoshi skateboarding? Banjo-Kazooie in Smash Bros.? A sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild in the works? All of that and more made for a great E3 2019 Nintendo Direct.
Well, that’s all folks. The press conference portion of E3 2019 has come to a close and Nintendo brought its “A” game. Filled with awesome announcements and surprising reveals, the E3 2019 Nintendo Direct was a solid first showing for Nintendo of America’s President and COO Doug Bowser. They hilariously made reference to his apt last name with the King Koopa himself ready to introduce all of the Direct’s announcements. Unfortunately, they showed Bowser out and started the show.
The first reveal of the Nintendo Direct, the “Hero” from Dragon Quest is coming to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. It seems you’ll be able to pick from multiple heroes from previous Dragon Quest games via skins. Gameplay was also shown confirming that yet another sword fighter will be joining the fray.
While a specific release date has yet to be determined, Luigi’s Mansion 3 is still slated to come out in 2019. This time set in a hotel, the newest iteration brings a few new gameplay features including a slam attack and slimy version of Luigi dubbed Gooigi. This port must be made by magicians. The Complete Edition of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is officially coming to the Nintendo Switch sometime this year. From what was shown, it’s apparent that this version has taken a graphical hit, which is expected. Still, it’s impressive this game can even run on the Switch.
Travis Touchdown is back in No More Heroes 3. While this announcement was expected (especially since Suda 51 has been teasing this game for months), it was great to see it revealed on the Nintendo Direct. No More Heroes 3 is expected to release next year.
We got another look at the remake of The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening. Showing a whole lot of gameplay, as well as a new “Chamber Dungeon” feature, there was plenty to get any Zelda fan excited. The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening will launch on September 20, 2019.
A new trailer for Fire Emblem: Three Houses was shown furthering the hype for the strategy game before it releases on July 26, 2019. The entire trailer focuses on the game’s narrative and showcasing the English voice cast.
Another surprising reveal, a remake of the original Panzer Dragoon. Along with the gameplay rich trailer, it was revealed that the remake will be coming to the Nintendo Switch this winter.
The moment many Nintendo Switch owners have been waiting for. Now dubbed Animal Crossing: New Horizons, the highly anticipated title has now been pushed to March 20, 2020. However, we did get to see a lot of gameplay via the Treehouse livestream.
Nearly 25 years since its original release on the SNES, Seiken Densetsu 3 is getting a full 3D remake for the Nintendo Switch. Now titled Trials of Mana, a new trailer was revealed showcasing its action-packed gameplay and cast of fantastical characters.
Every good press conference has a game become available the same day as the conference. For the E3 2019 Nintendo Direct, a set of games were made available. Collection of Mana includes Final Fantasy Adventure, Secret of Mana, and Trials of Mana.
Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 not only displays the longest name out of any game here; this game showed Yoshi shreddin’ the freakin’ gnar, brah! Like usual, you can take the casts of both Mario and Sonic games and partake in some Olympic events. But you can also get some major air as a dinosaur.
I feel like this game has been in so many Nintendo Directs for so long. Daemon X Machina‘s newest trailer showed some great mech-on-mech fighting and finally revealed its September 13, 2019 release date.
Although there has been a pretty limited amount of this game shown, Astral Chain got a brand new trailer featuring some super stylish Platinum Games combat. Also, this game is releasing on August 30, 2019.

Although the trailer played a pretty bad prank on those waiting for this reveal courtesy of Duck Hunt, we got our first glimpse of the bird and bear duo from Rare’s beloved 3D platformer.
