Japanese owners will be able to use the NFC scanner built into the Wii U's gamepad to quickly make purchases from next week, Nintendo has announced.

The system will use existing Japanese card systems like Suica, Toica, Pasmo, which already use a scanning system to quickly pay for public transportation or make small transactions in stores stores.

The service will start on July 22.

It's not currently clear when or even if this system will roll out in other territories.
