Nintendo Predicts to Ship Only 800,000 Wii U Units and 5 Million 3DS Units in Current Fiscal Year

With the NX coming right on the tail of the current fiscal year (that will end on March 31st, 2017), Nintendo understandably released conservative predictions for shipments of its current generation home console.

Within its financial statements released via press release today, the house of Mario and Zelda announced that it predicts to sship only 800,000 Wii U units between April 1st, 2016 and March 31st, 2017. According to the forecast, the 3DS will still have quite solid sales, at five million units.

The forecast also mentions that Nintendo expects Wii U and 3DS software shipments to be respectively 55 million units and 15 million within the fiscal year.
