Nintendo Removes Regular 3DS From Main Page of Official Website

on May 16, 2014 10:40 PM

Nintendo of America just removed the regular 3DS from the main page of its official website, leaving only the 3DS XL and the 2DS.

Interestingly enough, the smaller 3DS is still listed on the “What is Nintendo 3DS?” section and on the European and Japanese websites.

This move could mean several things, but the possible¬†options are that the company is either preparing for a redesign (maybe a “lite” version akin to what was done with the original DS) or to phase out the non-XL version entirely. It could also simply mean that Nintendo is shifting the marketing focus away from the older model.

We reached out to Nintendo for a comment, and we’ll keep you updated if we receive any relevant information.
