It's hard to figure out just what Nintendo is up to these days. The gaming giant has been dropping news out of nowhere left and right - first a Mario-themed direct, now there's a new Nintendo partner presentation tomorrow, the company is doing whatever it wants. But, there's one group that Nintendo does have to give some advance notice to - its investors. That's why we already know the next place you'll be able to find Nintendo's broad cast of characters - on the big screen.

We've already known that Mario was heading to Hollywood - Nintendo announced plans to bring its iconic character to theaters back in 2018, with a 2022 release window confirmed in 2019. What we didn't know is that prior to that movie's release, Nintendo is already planning "multiple other visual content expansion projects," according to a Corporate Management Policy Breifing.

Besides the Super Mario movie being made in conjunction with Universal Pictures, other visual media (besides games) are planned for some of Nintendo's IPs. Of course, none are listed, but I think we all know an animated Kirby movie would be more than well-received.

That being said, Nintendo also isn't limiting itself. "Going forward, visual content expansion initiatives my not be limited to film," reads the report, written by Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa. "The Scale of our investments will vary based on the type of project, but we will continue to invest in these entertainment expansion initiatives to increase the number of people who have access to our IP." No release dates for other projects are listed, although more are planned for 2023 and beyond.
