Nintendo Sales Top Charts in May

By Taran Brar

July 2, 2010

The month of May was very good to Nintendo this year. May marked a huge fiscal success for the company as they took the top two spots for system sales. Together the Wii and the DS sold over 700,000 units according to the independent NPD group, who track video game sales throughout the United States.

As if this was not enough, Nintendo also had four of the top ten games sold in the month of May. This includes Super Mario Galaxy 2, New Super Mario Bros., Wii Fit Plus and Pokémon SoulSilver Version. These four games sold over one million copies in the month of May alone.

Only time will tell if these kinds of numbers hold up throughout the summer. Nintendo has some great games coming out like Metroid: Other M, Kirby’s Epic Yarn and Donkey Kong Country Returns, but will they be enough to beat out games like Halo: Reach in the sales department? Once again only time can tell.
