Fire Emblem: Awakening has caught a bit of flak from series fans about its unique character design and the way the art style is fairly different from series entries before it. I think those fans are just old-fashioned, because as you can see from this newly released character art, the game's character design is lovely and charming. Nintendo released these bits of art to the Nintendo 3DS Facebook page, and also purveyed a few tidbits of information about the characters.

The character's shown are Chrom, Frederick, Lisa and masked Marth. Chrom is the main hero we've seen in all of the game's promotional content and he's also the prince of Ylisse and the leader of a faction of defenders or soldiers known as the Shepherds. Frederick, the guy in the heavy armor, is Chrom's lieutenant and a loyal knight of the Shepherds. Lissa is Chrom's adorable younger sister and is a new addition to the Shepherds. Finally, hero-king Marth makes a return from past FE titles and rescues the Shepherds from peril at opportune times.

Fire Emblem: Awakening will be available on February 4th, 2013.
