Early this morning, Nintendo released its latest sales figures through the end of this past quarter of the company's fiscal year and in the process divulged the latest shipping totals for the Switch.

In total, the Switch has now shipped 36.87 million units worldwide according to Nintendo. This means that 2.13 million units were shipped in Nintendo's last quarter, which ended on June 30, 2019. Considering the lack of notable first-party software that came out during this span, it's expected that this will be the weakest quarter of Nintendo's fiscal year. Games like The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening, Pokemon Sword & Shield, and Luigi's Mansion 3 will likely drive higher hardware sales later this year.

Speaking of software, the latest figures for Nintendo's first-party titles were also unveiled. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe remains the top-selling game on the Switch platform and in total has sold 17.89 million units. In addition, Super Mario Odyssey, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu & Eevee sit above 10 million copies sold each. Splatoon 2 is right on the edge of this figure having now sold over 9 million units. As a whole, 210.13 software units have been sold on the Switch throughout the platform's life.

With a staggering first-party lineup, the Switch should continue to be the hottest console on the market as 2019 moves forward. As it stands, Nintendo still projects that it will sell 18 million Switch units before the end of this current fiscal year, which will conclude in March 2020. We'll have to wait and see if this ends up being an accurate prediction in the future.
