The Nintendo Switch is the most popular console on the market. A large part of that comes from Nintendo's excellent first-party support; however, it would be a mistake to forget what an amazing indie machine the console is. Being able to take some of the most highly-touted indie games on the go is an incredible feather in the Switch's hat. Today, the team at Nintendo's Indie World shared the best-selling indies on the console in 2020. Some of them might surprise you. Give it a look below.

As you'd expect, games like Hades, Ori and the Will of the Wisps, and Spiritfarer top the list. Those three games have featured prominently in our staff's Game of the Year lists, so it's not surprising to see them doing well with the community at large. It's also really neat to see Switch users rallying around games like Streets of Rage 4, Carrion, Superliminal, and Kentucky Route Zero. And, as a Crosscode fanboy, I have to say that it warms my heart to see more people finally playing one of 2018's best PC games.

Some of the other games are a bit more surprising. For example, I'm continually surprised by people loving the Shantae series. It's not that I don't believe them, I just never hear about it. I'm also happy to see Super Mega Baseball 3 pop up here. That's a solid baseball title that is well-suited for the platform. This is also the first I'm seeing of Neon Abyss, which looks like something I need to check out.

One thing that is clear from this list is that the Nintendo Switch is full of variety. There are so many different genres represented here. Give the full list a look below.
