Have you ever been showered with free electronics on a flight you've taken? Yeah, me neither. For some today on a flight headed to San Diego Comic-Con though, that exact thing happened thanks to a collaboration with Nintendo.Courtesy of Southwest Airlines and Nintendo, all passengers on a flight out of Dallas, Texas this afternoon were given free Switch consoles and an additional copy of the newly released Super Mario Maker 2. Some of those on the flight began sharing the news on Twitter today and said that the resulting gift from Nintendo was teased prior to boarding the plane.

Once they arrived on-board, all passengers were then given a voucher that would allow them to redeem for a Switch console and a copy of the game later on. After landing in San Diego, upon exiting the plane attendants were waiting to then swap out the vouchers for the promised Switch devices.

While my kneejerk reaction to this was jealousy (I don't even know why, I already own a Switch), this is actually a pretty cool cross-promotion on the part of Nintendo and Southwest. While I doubt I'll ever end up on a flight that gives me free swag like this, it had to be a neat moment for those unsuspecting passengers who had no idea this was coming.

Whether this also indicates that Nintendo has more exciting events in store for San Diego Comic-Con later this week remains to be seen. We'll obviously let you know if the publisher has any major news to share in the coming days as the show takes place.
