Nintendo Switch is now officially the fastest-selling video game system of this hardware generation according to The NPD Group. From March 2017 to November 2018, the handheld-console hybrid has sold more than 8.7 million units, outpacing sales in the U.S. of all other current generation platforms at the same point in their life cycles.

Nintendo's also reportedly, the top-selling software publisher for the year of 2018. This is due in part to a multitude of first-party games that have made their way exclusively to the Nintendo Switch. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate alone sold more than three million units in the U.S. in just 11 days on the market. It's also doing gangbusters overseas as well.

Additionally, Nintendo hardware and dollar sales are the highest they've been since 2011, which is the year that saw the launch of the Nintendo 3DS. Furthermore, the companies software sales on the Nintendo eShop have grown 105 percent compared to 2017. Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe have both sold over four million and five million units in the States. The company's 2018 exclusives have also been doing incredibly well, with Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! and  Pokémon: Let's Go, Eevee! selling a combined two million units, and don't forget Super Mario Party; which has sold roughly 1.4 million units. Keep in mind all of the above data is based on stats from the U.S. only.

With large releases like Animal Crossing, Metroid Prime 4, Luigi's Mansion 3, Fire Emblem: Three Houses, and the next long-awaited mainline entry in the Pokémon series, there's no doubt Nintendo will have a bright future in the coming months and years.
