The long-awaited Nintendo Switch launched earlier this month to rapid success with over 1.5 million units sold so far, and while clearer data on the system's launch isn't available yet from Nintendo, GameStop (so far) says the system could turn out to be a big hit.

Speaking in an interview with Game Rant, GameStop senior director of merchandising Eric Bright shared some thoughts about the Nintendo Switch and its performance (so far) at the retailer, with Bright calling the console a "transformational piece of technology."

Specifically, Bright explained that initial sales of the system are "phenomenal" and that "the Nintendo Switch is off to a start right now that it could possibly eclipse the Wii." Bright added that while he couldn't provide "straight numbers" for the system's sales at the retailer, he did explain that "we're seeing one of the highest attach rates of software and accessories to a device that we've seen in a long time."

Bright also shared a few other insights into the Switch's launch, adding that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is "selling very well" and has lead to the retailer looking into a system bundle with the title. Bright also explained that other accessories like power chargers and additional Joy-Con controllers have also been very popular during the system's launch month.
