If you don't know, the Nintendo Switch has received a nice upgrade from Nintendo. The old version of the Switch has been swapped out with a newer version with much better battery life. If you just so happened to have purchased an older version of the Switch on or after July 17, Nintendo will swap out the system with a new one free of charge. All you would need to pay for is shipping and insurance cost.

The news came from Reddit user u/DarthMewtwo who stated: "Nintendo told me if you bought your Switch after July 17th, 2019, they can exchange it for the new upgraded model for free."

Other users backed up the claim and said that Nintendo sent them a case # and a shipping address to send their Switch to and Nintendo would replace the unit as long as they paid for shipping and insurance.

Polygon even contacted Nintendo's customer service department just to verify all of the details. Polygon stated that the offer appears to be specific in the U.S. and Canada right now. They were also told that they couldn't swap out an older version for any limited edition versions. The only two that could be swapped were the old standard SKU with the updated one with an improved battery life.

Nintendo hasn't stated how long this offer will last so if you want to take advantage of it I would hop on the opportunity pretty quick. The updated battery life is no joke. It almost doubled the playtime for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
