Nintendo Switch's Amiibo Support Confirmed

By Tyler Fischer

October 21, 2016

Nintendo finally announced its new console yesterday, the Nintendo Switch. The three minute plus announcement trailer dished out a hearty bit of information, but also left gamers with scads of questions. One of those questions, was whether or not the console has Amiibo support. It was always a safe bet to assume it would, but we now have official confirmation it does — good news for my 4 pre-ordered Waluigi Amiibos.

The official word comes from GameSpot who was told the following from Nintendo:

“Absolutely. If a Nintendo Switch game supports Amiibo, then the Nintendo Switch home gaming system will as well.”

Again, this comes as no surprise: Amiibos did appear alongside the console briefly in the debut trailer, and have been a huge success for Nintendo.

The Nintendo Switch is set to release sometime in March 2017.
