Nintendo Teaming Up With Pennzoil to Promote Mario Kart 8, Site Launching March 5th

on March 3, 2014 9:35 PM

Pennzoil will be working with Nintendo to promote the latter’s upcoming Mario Kart 8, as announced on the former’s Twitter account:

The promotion will include a real-life Mario-themed go-kart racing track, and all SXSW Interactive & Gaming attendees will be allowed to race on the track for free. What makes this race so cool is the very real power-ups that drivers will need to collect in order to completely protect their car. The power-ups are powered with RFID technology, which will actually speed up or slow down the go-kart in real-time. Races will be shown in first-person view to the audience for a truly authentic experience (if the power-ups weren’t enough).

The event will be held at JWT Atlanta and the track will be open March 7th from 12PM – 6PM, March 8th from 12PM – 6PM and March 9th from 12PM – 6PM.
