E3 2012: Nintendo Unveils Wii U Pro Controller, Looks Eerily Familiar

on June 4, 2012 6:25 AM

As you probably already know, Nintendo took it upon themselves to kick off the E3 announcement festivities just a little early this year. And with that came the unveiling of their new “hardcore” gaming pad, aptly named the Wii U Pro Controller. Clearly, this one is aimed at those players looking to shoot something other than turtle shells.

At first glance it appears to be a knockoff of what we’ve become used to on the Xbox 360. But after further examination, it’s more of a hybrid of Microsoft’s controller as well as the Sony’s DualShock 3. If the feel and ergonomics are right on this one (which we’ll be able to see for ourselves this week) 3rd party titles on the Wii U may very well have a fighting chance this time around.
