Nintendo’s Free to Play Game Is None Other Than Steel Diver (Does Anyone Remember That Game?)
Remember the article I wrote last week on that mysterious free to play game Nintendo announced at their E3 investor’s meeting? Thanks to a report released from IGN today, we now know this game’s identity: Steel Diver, a 3DS launch title with a Metacritic score of 58.
While I’m not impressed with the game Nintendo has chosen to be free to play I suppose it does make sense, considering that it has a simple yet addicting gameplay style–exactly the traits needed for a successful casual game. And Miyamoto seems very optimistic about Steel Diver:
There is something we’re doing with the Steel Diver idea that I think is going to open things up with that game… It’s going to be very fun. We’re exploring from a perspective of where we can take that from a multiplayer standpoint – it’s going to have this four-player battle mode that I think is going to be very interesting,
The game’s due by early next year so I’m sure we’ll see more of Steel Diver–hopefully it will be a much more polished version by then.
