Nintendo's lineup of mobile titles brought in a hefty amount of revenue for the company in 2018. Super Mario Run, Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, Fire Emblem Heroes, and Dragalia Lost made a total of $348 million in 2018 according to Sensor Tower. This is a 15 percent increase compared to 2017. Unsurprisingly, Fire Emblem Heroes was the outlier making $230 million accounting for 66 percent of the company's total mobile revenue in 2018 alone.

Admittedly, it's not exactly fair to compare Nintendo's new mobile IP Dragalia Lost to Fire Emblem Heroes as it has had far less time on the market, launching in late September in select regions. Dragalia Lost impressively boosted Nintendo's revenue gain for the year by 17 percent, making around $58.4 million. On top of that, the game isn't available in as many territories as Fire Emblem Heroes making its revenue as a new IP all the more impressive.

Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp made $48.6 million in 2018 while Super Mario Run pulled $10 million. Super Mario Run's revenue isn't all too surprising considering the game is a one time buy with no microtransactions. With that in mind, it's likely that Nintendo's future mobile titles will include microtransactions, which isn't necessarily a bad thing as they don't hamper titles like Fire Emblem Heroes or Dragalia Lost in my opinion.

Speaking of which, going forward Nintendo plans on launching their next mobile title Mario Kart Tour before the end of March. Presumably, microtransactions and the like should be expected in this game Mario Kart is one of Nintendo's most popular series so it'll be interesting to see how it fairs against Fire Emblem Heroes in 2019. Can the power of racing stand up to the Gacha games?

All of the previously mentioned titles (besides Mario Kart Tour) are available now on iOS and Android devices.
