Koei Tecmo announced on February 12 that Team Ninja finished the development of Nioh 2, the game went gold. The announcement was made via the Nioh Japanese official Twitter account.

Back in January, Nioh 2 Producer and Director Fumihiko Yasuda announced in a message that the game's development was nearly complete, meaning it wouldn't get delayed. The development team managed, certainly after many grueling hours, to keep this promise. Seeing many other highly anticipated and popular games were delayed these past weeks, this is nice for Nioh fans. Personally speaking, I've stopped focusing on these kinds of popular games over the years as I play and prioritize more and more niche Japanese games. While Nioh 2 looks incredibly interesting, I'm unsure I'll play it myself anytime soon.

Nioh 2 is officially described as an action RPG "where you die a lot and set in the Sengoku Era". The game has multiple differences from the first one, focusing on Yokai and giving the customizable protagonist their own Yokai transformation. Bosses can also forcefuly, temporarily shift the world into the Yokai's dimension for a strenght boost, and it all feels like a Tokusatsu show. Nioh 2 will be available on March 13, 2020, exclusively for the PlayStation 4.
