PS4 Exclusive NiOh: Deluxe Edition and Pre-order Bonuses Detailed

By Tyler Fischer

November 14, 2016

Today, developer Koei Tecmo officially detailed the pre-order bonuses and deluxe edition for its upcoming game: NiOh.

As you may remember, we previously covered the reveal of pre-order bonuses for the game in Japan, as well as what the deluxe edition consisted of. However, at the time we didn’t know how the bonus DLCs would be distributed in the west: well now we know.

Pre-orders for NiOh — which launches on February 9th — are live across the PlayStation Store and your local retailers.

The following two editions are being offered:

Standard Edition

  • The full game

Digital Deluxe

Pre-order Bonus Details:

When pre-ordering either edition, you will receive the following armor, which is inspired by the ancient statues that stand guard at temples across Japan. You will also receive a Nioh Dynamic Theme for PS4.

In addition, if you pre-order Nioh or the Digital Deluxe Edition on PlayStation Store or purchase the game within the first two weeks after its launch, you’ll also receive the Crimson Master Armor, another in-game armor but this time based on legendary samurai Yukimura Sanada.

Why Ratchet & Clank is the Most Important PS5 Game

The season pass was not elaborated upon, nor was the PS4 avatar revealed.

NiOh’s Game Director Yosuke Hayashi also added — via the PlayStation Blog — the following blurb about the game’s alpha and beta testing and how it shaped the game for the better.

“Nioh is a new IP, so in a lot of ways we wanted to get users’ feedback and understand whether we were going in the right direction.”

“For example, some of the feedback we got from our users was that they didn’t want the battles to involve too many enemies, because it would be too challenging. So we looked at more one-on-one encounters where greater skill was required.”

“That we were able to get people to like the game during the alpha and beta testing is something I’m really happy about. So as we get closer to launch, we’re putting a lot of pressure on ourselves to meet those high expectations.”

NiOh is set to launch exclusively for the PS4 on February 9th.
