With just a few months left until release, the highly-anticipated exploration title No Man’s Sky will have players soaring across the far regions of the galaxy, and along with it players can get a taste of the game’s epic expanses with the upcoming soundtrack release in June.
Alternative group 65daysofstatic, who are contributing to the music of No Man’s Sky, announced that a soundtrack album for the title will be coming just before the game’s release, with the group to release a double album of music from the title.
The album, titled No Man’s Sky: Music for an Infinite Universe, will release on June 17th, 2016 and feature numerous tracks across two discs and 16 tracks. The album will be available on a double-CD, a double vinyl with 10 tracks (and a digital download of the full 16 track album), and a deluxe collector’s vinyl with all 16 tracks across four LPs. The album will also be available to stream and download from various online retailers, such as Soundcloud and more.
The soundtrack will consist of 10 tracks of original music, while the remaining six tracks will consist of various “soundscapes” and original sound designs meant to be used by the title’s procedurally-generated systems, with the album to feature about two hours of music in total, with the band explaining on their collaboration with the title in a statement:
“Being involved with No Man’s Sky is as unlikely as it is exciting. Two years of our lives have disappeared into a black hole and we’ve been spat out into another dimension.
“The project has pushed us to explore new processes and techniques, to rethink our relationship with our own music and to essentially soundtrack every narrative thread of a ‘choose your own adventure’ novel that exists only in our minds. We’re really proud of the results, and can’t wait to release the album and play it live.”
No Man’s Sky releases for PS4 and PC on June 21st in the US, June 22nd in Europe, and June 24th, 2016 in the UK: the game’s soundtrack will release on June 17th and is available now to pre-order. A sample track from the album, titled “Supermoon,” is available to listen to below via Soundcloud:
