No Man's Sky Saw Over a Million New Players Through Xbox Game Pass and Windows 10

That's a lot of people flying in space.

Hello Games has not long just announced that the newest, and free, titled update will make the large open-world space exploration game, No Man’s Sky somewhat haunting, But the game has also seen the highest player count ever since it arrived on Xbox Game Pass.

Back in May of this year, No Man’s Sky had made its debut on Xbox Game Pass as well as the addition of being made available through the Windows 10 store for PC. In a blog post posted over on the Xbox website, Sean Murray, managing director, and programmer at Hello Games revealed that in June, “we [Hello Games] welcomed over a million new players” through Xbox Game Pass and Windows 10 release alone.

He mentions the crossplay update that also hit the game last month, saying that with the new players from Xbox Game Pass and Windows 10 joining with those on other platforms means that Hello Games has seen the “biggest ever in-game numbers.” The crossplay support is available across all available platforms, allowing PS4, PC, and Xbox One players to jump into the universe together and play together.

The game originally launched back in 2016 and was one of the successful launches of that year on Steam. Of course, the game was also heavily criticized for its technical issues and had some issues that saw false advertising claims eventually cleared by the Advertising Standards Authority. Since then, the game has been receiving large titled content updates for free and has significantly improved the game.

No Man’s Sky is available on Xbox One, PS4, and PC. There’s no Switch version, but the team has expressed interest in seeing what’s possible.
