With a bit of a delay compared to the usual timings, the NPD delivered its monthly statistics for the U.S. market, related to the month of June.

We learn via Analyst Mat Piscatella that the NES Classic Editon was the best selling hardware platform units-wise, while the PS4 was the best-seller among current-gen consoles and had the highest dollar sales as well.

All platforms showcased growth in sales year-on-year, with the Xbox One nearly doubling its performance, the Switch up by 50%, and PS4 also growing.  On the other hand, the Switch was the only console to show improvement in its software sales in a month that was fairly slow for the rest of the market.

Mario Tennis Aces was the best selling game of the month, followed by God of War that is proving to have an impressively long tail. The omnipresent and immortal Grand Theft Auto V ranked third, followed by The Crew 2.
