Beenox, developers of 2012's The Amazing Spider-Man, announced today at the Marvel Video Games Panel that they have begun development on a follow-up, The Amazing-Spider-Man 2. Much like its predecessor, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, while taking cues from its feature film counter-part, will also be its own contained story. Thus, anyone who picks up the game does not have to worry about simply playing through what they saw in the movie theater.

The developers have confirmed that they are working on expanding their open-world version of New York City, as well as additional upgrades, abilities, and more. There will also be a morality system added, based on the "with great power, comes great responsibility" directive, which rewards Spider-Man for being a "good" Spider-Man. Failing to adhere to Spider-Man's code of morality will result in heightened level of difficulty throughout the game.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is being developed by Beenox and will be released in the Spring of 2014. The game's publisher and platforms were not announced.
