Obsidian Entertainment's Pillars of Eternity has a 'Firm Release Date' for this March

January 14, 2015

Obsidian Entertainment and Paradox Interactive have announced that the release date for their long awaited CRPG, Pillars of Eternity, is now set for March 26th, 2015.

Pillars of Eternity was successfully funded via Kickstarter in late 2012 under the working title of Project Eternity, raising $3,986,929 to create the game. Promising a release in early 2014, Pillars of Eternity was pushed back to the end of 2014 before being delayed again to the current date in March. Hopefully this promised “firm release date” as the studio and publisher put it, will be the definitive one.

“Everybody at Obsidian has been dedicated to ensuring that Pillars of Eternity is the game we said it would be ever since we launched the Kickstarter campaign,” said Feargus Urquhart, CEO of Obsidian Entertainment in an official statement. “The community has been incredibly forthcoming with their feedback, and we want to thank all of our fans for being so engaged with the game’s development – and for giving us the time to implement their suggestions and ensure Pillars of Eternity is a game we can be proud of. We’ve used that time well, and the results will be worth the wait. The end is finally in sight, and our journey is nearly complete – at which point yours can begin.”

Obsidian Entertainment is planning a livestream tomorrow with project director Josh Sawyer to reveal some of the game’s “never-before-seen” content. You can catch the livestream to check out the new information at 1:00 PM PST on Twitch.

Fans can grab Pillars of Eternity on PC, Mac and Linux for $44.99.
