Just a couple years after its hit game Octodad: Dadliest Catch, developer Young Horses announced Bugsnax during PlayStation's Future of Gaming event.

Bugsnax is a first-person adventure game where you play a journalist exploring an island called Snaktooth. The main character is invited to the island by Elizabert Megafig, an explorer on the island. When the journalist interviews Elizabert and a group of grumpuses, it's up to you to explore the island and catch Bugsnaxs along the way.

"We just love making weird stuff. It's been tough staying silent all these years, and it brings us joy and relief (and dread) to finally show off Bugsnax," says Kevin Zuhn, Creative Director of Bugsnax. “It's so much bigger and weirder than we ever could have imagined when we started. It surprises and delights us constantly and we hope it has the same effect on all of you."

Bugsnax is the first game from Young Horses since 2014's Octodad: Dadliest Catch. For those that don't know, Octodad has you play as an octopus disguised as a human as you do mundane tasks and spend time with your family, all while using the game's wacky physics. The game came to the Nintendo Switch in 2017 and it's even available on the Wii U if you have one of those lying around.

"We’ve also been hard at work integrating the features of PS5," says Phil Tibitoski, President and Co-Founder of Young Horses on the PlayStation Blog. "I’ve personally been super excited to see the dynamic feedback of the DualSense controller bring life to our world! Feeling vibrations change with the terrain underfoot, the triggers tensing as I snap a trap shut on a Bugsnak, and then hearing its cute little chirp through the controller speakers right next to my face — it’s honestly so cool."

In addition to Bugsnax, The Future of Gaming event included major game announcements such as Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Resident Evil VIII: Village, Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, and Horizon: Forbidden West. Additionally, we got our first look at the PlayStation 5 and some of the accessories that'll launch alongside it.

Bugsnax is set to launch on the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 later this holiday. You can watch the game's trailer below if you're interested.
