Nintendo Switch players with a physical copy of Octopath Traveler 2 can now choose from eight different pieces of box cover art — one for each of the playable main characters — provided they have a My Nintendo account, enough platinum rewards points to cover the cost, and their own printer. Like its predecessor, Octopath Traveler 2 is an HD-2D turn-based RPG in which the player takes control of eight different characters, each with their own storyline and abilities, so there is no true main character. The second installment in the Octopath Traveler series, which is developed and produced by Square Enix, launched this past Friday, February 24, for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC, but the new personalized cover art inserts seem to be exclusively available to fit the Switch versions of the game boxes.RELATED: I've Played The Prologue To All 8 Octopath Traveler 2 StoriesEach of the pieces of cover art, which were created by official Character Designer Naoki Ikushima, will cost players 30 platinum rewards points. The instructions on Nintendo's rewards page indicate that a user must sign in with their Nintendo Rewards account, visit the page for the art, select "Redeem", and then choose which character-specific image they would like to purchase. One is available each for Hikari the Warrior, Throné the Thief, Ochette the Hunter, Castti the Apothecary, Osvald the Scholar, Tementos the Cleric, Agnea the Dancer, and Partitio the Merchant. Nintendo's page also suggests that the images be printed on glossy, 8.5x11-inch paper.

Following up on 2018's Octopath Traveler, the recently released sequel is being simultaneously praised and criticized for offering players more of the same from the first installment. Released two days ago at the time of this writing — although a free demo version with each character's prologue has been available since early February — Octopath Traveler 2 currently sits at a respectable 84/100 on Metacritic's cumulative critic reviews, with users rating it slightly higher, at an average of 8.7/10.

Like its predecessor, while there is no true main character, the first hero the player selects becomes a sort of defacto leader of the group, staying in the party throughout the course of the game, so the new optional cover art should allow players to personalize their experience a little bit more.
