The NPD numbers f0r the month of July in the United States have finally come through and this time around Nintendo came away as the big winner.

According to NPD Group, Octopath Traveler was July's best-selling game on the software side of things, with the Nintendo Switch coming away as the top-selling hardware platform. This is the highest unit sales that a Nintendo platform has had in the month of July since 2000.

Additionally, half of the month's top-10 most sold games were Switch exclusive which has now lead to Nintendo both the top-selling publisher of July and 2018 as a whole. Suffice to say, July was good to Nintendo.

On the broader side of things, total sales are up 14% in July and 17% year-to-date. Meanwhile, hardware sales are up by 19% year-over-year and accessory spending on items like gamepads and headphones reaching a new all-time high for July.
