Alongside the official announcement of the Valve Index today, Oculus has also made headlines of its own by now announcing when two of its upcoming headsets will begin arriving. Both the Oculus Quest and the Oculus Rift S will begin shipping out next month on May 21. Both devices will retail at a starting price of $399 and are also available for pre-order starting today as well. If you want to snag either right now, you can head over to the official Oculus website to lock on your own pre-order.While the Rift S and Quest both might be the same price and will begin shipping on the same day, both headsets are pretty different from one another. The Rift S is a new model of the standard Oculus Rift and comes with improves optics and a higher resolution display. It also still connects to your PC and is compatible with all other games that work on the standard Rift.As for the Oculus Quest, it is a completely separate headset that doesn't need tracking devices or a PC in order to work. While the major drawback on this headset is that it won't be able to play every game in the existing Oculus library, the trade-off might be more than worth it. I got to try out the headset myself last month at PAX East and it's a really impressive piece of tech. I'm really excited to see how it does at market once it releases. If you're a big fan of virtual reality, then it seems like the next few months could be exciting. Hopefully, we can share some extended thoughts on these headsets here at DualShockers in the future.
