Anticipation and hype surrounding the beginnings of VR’s introduction to the mainstream have been building more and more, and now pre-orders for the highly-anticipated Oculus Rift have officially begun.
The Oculus website was updated with new information for its Oculus Rift VR headset, which now has an official pricetag of $599 and pre-orders for the headset have opened up to the public for everyone, with purchases limited to one per customer. The $599 retail price does not include shipping or tax.
Oculus detailed that pre-orders of the headset will include the headset with built-in headphones and microphone, the sensor, Oculus remote, an Xbox One controller, and free copies of Lucky’s Tale and Eve: Valkyrie bundled in the package.
Orders for the headset will be shipped to 20 countries starting on March 28th, 2016, while the Oculus Rift will also be made available at select retail locations starting in April 2016. Pre-orders of the headset package will also allow purchasers to secure a placement in line for pre-orders of the Oculus Touch controller, which is expected to launch later in 2016.
Aside from the headset bundle for $599, Oculus also detailed that other bundles for both an Oculus Ready PC and the headset will be available for $1499 starting in February, which will package together both the Oculus Rift headset and a prebuilt PC at Oculus-required specifications.
