Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee Receives a 20th Anniversary PlayStation 4 Theme Courtesy of Truant Pixel
Truant Pixel announces the soon-to-be-released Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee PlayStation 4 theme in celebration of the game's 20th anniversary.
For the 20th anniversary of Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee, theme creator Truant Pixel has brought a little celebratory customization for all fans on PlayStation 4. Very soon, you will have the chance of owning your very own Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee 20th Anniversary Dynamic Theme.
The theme, which will be releasing to the PlayStation Store on September 22, most prominently features the spider-like Vortigon construct known as the Shrink. Fans of the franchise might remember this character from promotional material and concept art that was created before the original Abe’s Oddysee released in 1997.
According to Truant Pixel, the elements of the 3D construct crafted for this theme were “painstakingly” transferred to the new format in order to retain as much of the original detail as possible. The end result is a PlayStation 4 theme that reacts to user interaction through lighting, depth-of-field effects, fog, and animation.
This theme also includes new icon artwork that has been designed to reflect Mudokon heiroglyphs, and the music of the theme has been designed to feel like an “ambient Oddworld soundtrack.” In addition, cycling through these icons causes custom keynote sounds to be emitted.
Of course, as can be expected from a Truant Pixel product, the Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee 20th Anniversary Dynamic Theme has been designed to accommodate 1080p, 4K/UHD, and OLED displays, so it’s going to look very pretty!
