Oddworld Inhabitants first announced Oddworld: Soulstorm all the way back in 2016. That being said, the game disappeared for some time before finally resurfacing during Unity's GDC 2019 presentation. We still had not seen gameplay from Oddworld: Soulstorm up until today, when the game's developers decided to release a brand new teaser trailer that contains some.

While all of the gameplay featured does have an odd filter over it, you can still tell that it's the 2.5D Oddworld experience many of us have come to love. The levels and camera do seem to be more dynamic than in Oddworld: New 'n Tasty though, with environments setting on fire and breaking due to the player's actions. The trailer also hints at looting, crafting, and fighting systems, though we do not see much of those elements in this specific trailer.

As someone who got into the entire series after playing Oddworld: New 'n Tasty for the first time, I am satisfied by this first look at the game and can't wait to finally get my hands on it. You can check out the teaser trailer the houses the gameplay reveal below.

For a better look at gameplay, you can check out the first gameplay screenshots for the game that were also released today. While specific platforms haven't been confirmed yet, this new trailer states that Oddworld: Soulstorm is on track to release sometime in early 2020 and an IGN preview reveals that the game will likely cost $39.99.
