Oddworld: Soulstorm is Confirmed for PS5 with a Stunning Cinematic Trailer

The upcoming Oddworld: Soulstorm is making its way to PS5, with a new trailer highlighting its stunning cinematic style.

While it’s been a long time coming, Sony finally revealed some of the information that we’ve been waiting for on the upcoming PS5. The presentation gave us an exciting look at upcoming PS5 titles like Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles MoralesRatchet & Clank: Rift Apart, and more, alongside several third-party and indie developers. As a longtime franchise tied to PlayStation, the next installment of the Oddworld franchise, Soulstorm, is officially making its way to Sony’s next-gen system.

During Sony’s PS5: The Future of Gaming reveal event, developer Oddworld Inhabitants debuted a brand new trailer for its upcoming Oddworld: Soulstorm, the next entry in the long-running Oddworld franchise, and confirming that the title will be coming to PS5. The new trailer highlighted several of the game’s cinematic moments, while also showing some gameplay sections as Abe explores vast environments and tries to save his fellow Mudokons.

While there isn’t a ton to go off of just yet for Soulstorm, Oddworld Inhabitants stated that the game will allow players to “witness Abe’s horrifying conflict with a terrifying new machination,” in “a dark parable that tells an epic tale of a volatile society pushed to its limits.” In addition to the story, Soulstorm also “represents a big visual and cinematic leap” that “breaks new ground” for the series, according to Oddworld Inhabitants. Specifically, Soulstorm will incorporate “intelligent new mechanics and twisted new devices” that present players with new challenges in the very unique Oddworld universe.

As a long-time Oddworld fan, Soulstorm that I’ve been looking forward to, and seeing it make its next-gen debut is sure to be an experience. Hopefully we’ll get to learn more about Soulstorm in the coming months, along with getting a better idea of when it will finally release.

Oddworld: Soulstorm is confirmed to be in development for PS5, PS4, Xbox One, and PC. No release date or window has been confirmed for the game just yet, but stay tuned for more information on the game as it develops.
