Dyuring a livestream on Nico Nico held today, Atlus and Vanillaware announced their upcoming collaboration game, as promised on a teaser site that suddenly sprung up a few days ago.

The game is Odin’s Sphere: Leifdrasir, it appears to be a remake of the original 2D action JRPG Odin’s Sphere. It will be released in Japan on January 14th, 2016.

Odin’s Sphere: Leifdrasir won’t just be a remaster. It was mentioned during the livestream that it will actually be a remake, as the gameplay will be heavily revised (including more open levels and new abilities for the characters) and will come with several new features. The game will also include a “classic mode,” for those who loved the original game.

Considering how much I enjoyed Odin’s Sphere, originally released in 2007 for PS2, I couldn’t be happier.

Update: if you want to see how the game looks in action, you can check it out here.
