One Punch Man: A Hero Nobody Knows is an upcoming action fighting game from developer Spike Chunsoft and publisher Bandai Namco. The game features 3 vs. 3 battles that you let build a team featuring famous fighters from all over the One Punch Man lore. We don't know the release date yet; however, Bandai Namco is opening up the game for a closed beta early next month.

The trailer Bandai Namco dropped along with the announcement provides a look at some of the content coming in the game. There is an extensive character customization tool that lets you create any hero you could imagine. At one point, there's a man fighting with an inflatable tube around his waist. I'm not sure if that gives him an advantage or not, but it certainly looks stylish. You can also see some of the single-player story content that will be on offer. Of course, the real selling point and mechanic you want to know about is the battle system.

The system introduces a weird concept that is very One Punch Man. Saitama is always late for fights, so most of the time you're just biding time waiting for him to get there and finish off the baddies. You can see his timer counting down in the corner of the screen and can decrease it by performing perfect guards or combos. It's a strange way to build a fighting game, but I think it works for the property.

One Punch Man fans looking to get in early should sign up on Bandai Namco's official website before October 16. The closed beta will have four separate windows, all taking place from November 1-3. One Punch Man: A Hero Nobody Knows will launch sometime in 2020 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
