Today, during the celebrations for Tokyo Game Show, D3 Publisher announced Onechanbara Origin.

This isn't actually a fully new game but it's a remake of the first two games of the series The Onechanbara and The Onechanbara 2, released for PS2 in 2004 and 2005 respectively.

Heroine Aya and Saki have been fully redesigned with the character design by Katsumi Enami, known for having worked on The Legend of Heroes: Zero no Kiseki and Ao no Kiseki by Nihon Falcom among other things.

Another relevant difference is that this time around, Saki is actually playable.

Interestingly, this won't just be a remake, but it will be a sort of reinterpretation of the original games and will include new scenarios.

You can check out the new screenshots and art below. The game is releasing in Japan for PS4 in 2019.

If you're unfamiliar with the Onechanbara series, the latest chapter we saw is Onechanbara Z2: Chaos on PS4 and PC.
