Funcom has announced that Knut Avenstroup Haugen, the award-winning composer of the Age of Conan (the 2008 PC classic) soundtrack, is poised to return to produce new music for open-world survival game Conan Exiles, which is coming to Early Access in January and Xbox Preview Spring 2017, before its final launch for PS4, Xbox One, and PC at unannounced date.

The music for Age of Conan -- as well as its expansion -- has received many nominations for Best Score from various prestigious awards. Knut Avenstroup Haugen himself won the Best Original Song award at the Hollywood Music in Media awards for Age of Conan: The Savage Coast of Turan,' as well as the Best Original Score for a Video Game or Interactive Media from the International Film Music Critics Association.

Knut Avenstroup Haugen accompanied the announcement with the following statement:

“Returning to the Conan universe is an absolute pleasure, and I am very happy to once again be working with the team at Funcom. The world of Conan is incredibly rich in culture and history, and it is a fantastic source of inspiration that allows me as a composer to explore a variety of different musical themes and soundscapes.”

Creative Director at Funcom, Joel Bylos added:

“We are incredibly excited to have Knut join us once again. The music he created for ‘Age of Conan’ stands among the best ever made for gaming, and it helped bring the world of Hyboria to life for millions of players all around the world. We have listened to some of what he is working on for ‘Conan Exiles’ and all we can say is that players have something truly special to look forward to.”

A Conan Exiles soundtrack sample was also released today -- you can check it out at the bottom of the article.

In addition to the sample released today, some of the new music will also be made available through various Conan Exiles'  videos that will release throughout January. The whole soundtrack will be made available after the launch of Early Access on PC, which is also in January.
