A select group of the original Resident Evil game's live-action actors took to YouTube to revisit their roles in a new short film titled Resident Evil: Resurrection. The short film in question captures much of the infamous campiness the original is now well known for while adding much better camera work.

This isn't the first time the stars have returned to play their former roles. The YouTube channel that published this latest short film, Residence of Evil, has posted various interviews with the cast and previous Resident Evil fan films, such as The Keeper's Diary: A Biohazard Story. Following the content-filled Resident Evil Showcase on October 20, the channel seemed to pick the perfect time to publish its latest fan tribute.

Resident Evil: Resurrection first saw the light of day on October 26th, 2022, starring Charlie Kraslavsky as Chris Redfield, Greg Smith as Barry Burton, and Eric Pirius as Albert Wesker. While the short film is not official canon, the lines spoken within share the same level of gravitas that the original 1996 PS1 game proudly features. The final scene of the short gives fans an onscreen reunion between eternal adversaries Chris Redfield and Albert Wesker, with one of the actors struggling to keep a straight face through the intentionally awful dialogue.

Based on the YouTube comments, fans appear to be responding favorably, especially when compared to the news of Code Veronica possibly not receiving the remake treatment. Many of the fans affirm the joy of seeing these actors on screen again, as well as the high-quality production value achieved on a very tight budget. According to the video's opening, the channel's Andrew Saullo primarily created and funded this short film, which is quite a feat based on what it contains.

In addition to shooting with a high-quality camera, all the characters are in full costume, they use a helicopter stage set in front of a green screen to achieve a flying effect, and they even add some stock footage to tie it all together. Despite all these bells and whistles, Residence of Evil plans to create a more in-depth short film with higher production value as the support of its YouTube channel and Patreon continues to increase.
