During last month's E3 2015, one of the biggest surprises to come from the Sony press conference delivered fans the long-awaited news that Shenmue III will finally be a reality, and after debuting the title's Kickstarter campaign on the press conference stage, more news on the game's progress has revealed some familiar faces (and voices) will be returning for the game.

In a new post on the game's Kickstarter page, voice actor Corey Marshall has been confirmed to return for Shenmue III after previously voicing the protagonist, Ryo, in the original Shenmue and Shenmue II. The Shenmue III Kickstarter explained that like its long-waiting fans, Marshall is just as excited to be returning to the franchise once more:

"Just in! Corey Marshall, the actor who did the English voice acting for the main character Ryo in Shenmue 1 & 2, is now confirmed for Shenmue 3!  The support for Mr. Marshall to reprise his role as Ryo has been just overwhelming!"

"We would all like to thank Corey-san for coming back, and especially for all the support he has given to Shenmue over the years."

In addition to Marshall's return to voicing Ryo for Shenmue III, the Kickstarter page has also been updated to provide new rewards to backers with a little piece of sweet Shenmue fan service: those backing at the $1,000, $2,000, and up tiers will now receive a special voice message from Corey Marshall as a thank you for supporting the project.

Shenmue III is currently in development for PS4 and PC.
