Open World Exploration Game 'Outer Wilds' Revealed in New Trailer and Screenshots

Annapurna Interactive announced Mobius Digital's newest game Outer Wilds, an open world space mystery game with many places to explore.

Annapurna Interactive announced plans to publish Outer Wilds, an open world mystery game for PC and to-be-announced platforms in 2018.

Developed by Mobius Digital, Outer Wilds is set in space where the solar system is trapped in an endless time loop. The game is played in first-person with simulation systems and rewards for players who go off the beaten path to explore out of curiosity.

During gameplay, players will be able to explore various locations throughout space including planets, moons, and alien structures in search for a reason behind the time loop and the mystery of their mission. However, the passage of time can also be manipulated to reveal new secret areas and discovered what happened during specific moments. For example, players will be able to visit an underground city before it was swallowed by sand or explore the surface of a planet as it crumbles beneath their feet.

Outer Wilds also has a variety of unique gadgets that players will be able to use to probe their surrounding and track down mysterious signals. There are also gadgets that have the player decipher ancient alien writings and roast a marshmallow to relax.
