Today, Starbreeze Studios — makers of The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay, Payday 2, and Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons — released a brand new cinematic trailer for Overkill's The Walking Dead introducing the first playable character, Aidan.

Based in the Robert Kirkman's popular The Walking Dead comic book series, Overkill's The Walking Dead is a cooperative multiplayer first-person shooter that brings players to a zombie-infested Washington, D.C. You and three others will pick between four playable characters and complete various missions and raids to protect your camp against the living and the dead.

Each character in Overkill's The Walking Dead will have their own unique abilities, skill tree, and backstory. In the trailer below, you can get a glimpse of what Aidan's life was like before the zombie apocalypse and what he has become because of it. His weapon of choice — a crudely modified baseball bat — signifies that he specializes in melee combat.

Overkill's The Walking Dead is developed by Overkill Software — a Starbreeze Studio — in collaboration with Skybound Entertainment and 505 Games. The game was originally announced back in 2014 alongside a reveal trailer. Its release has been pushed a number of times; most recently, Starbreeze announced in May that the game would be delayed until the second half of 2018.

Overkill's The Walking Dead is set to launch in Fall 2018 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows PC.
