Blizzard has revealed during the Overwatch League Grand Finals that Ramattra, the leader of Null Sector, is the next hero coming to the lineup at the beginning of Season 2, which is set to go live on December 6th.

The cinematic trailer focuses on Ramattra's origins in the Overwatch universe, revealing that Ramattra has a multifaceted story and his goal is to protect his own people from humanity's harsh realities. Since he is the leader of an omnic group called Null Sector, Ramattra took it upon himself to approach his convictions from a pragmatic angle for the benefit of his people.

With the unconditional support of his comrades, Ramattra dedicated himself to imposing his philosophies across the world. "His ideals weren’t far removed from his fellow Shambli monk, Zenyatta. However, Ramattra’s story is one of the hardships, trauma, and a magnified view of humanity’s harsh realities." the official blog post announcing his reveal reads.

Although the developer team has not revealed any gameplay footage of Ramattra to dive into his abilities, lead hero designer Alec Dawson told to IGN that Ramattra is a tank hero with two distinct forms that players will be able to switch between during combat. Going into more detail, when his Omnic form is activated, players can serve as a front-liner to protect their teammates from enemy attacks. Nemesis, on the other hand, is Ramattra's second form with powerful melee attacks, allowing players to take the role of a brawler rushing down the opposite team.

As a tank hero who has a pivotal role in the story, Ramattra differentiates himself from the other tanks, such as Zarya, Orisa, Sigma, and Winston, thanks to his versatile ability kit teased by Alec Dawson. Players can define a proper role for themselves according to the course of each round. It will be totally up to you to be protective or aggressive by switching between his Omnic and Nemesis forms.

Beginning with season 2 on Tuesday, December 6th, Ramattra is slated to be added to the roster of characters in Overwatch 2. The latest tank hero will be part of the battle pass, meaning players who have the premium version of the service will have access to Ramattra immediately. In other Overwatch 2 news, Meri will be displayed for 15 days due to a bug involving her Ice Wall ability.
