A carryover skin from a special event in the original Overwatch is causing trouble for Overwatch 2 players, as it is making them highly visible to opponents, even through walls. The skin in question belongs to Lucio, and it was released as an unlockable back in 2018 as part of Overwatch's Winter Wonderland event.

The bug report was first pointed out by a Reddit user going by the handle of FidgetSpinnetMan, who pointed out that Lucio's Snow Fox skin was making him an easy target. A special visual feature of the skin is an animated graphical effect that resembles glimmering ice crystals surrounding the character. However, it's doubtful the skin was intended to allow other players to spot Snow Fox Lucio users from such a long distance or even through solid objects, which would be a clear disadvantage in a competitive multiplayer FPS title.

In his post, the Reddit user discouraged other players from using the skin on the support hero, pointing out the "smoke" that made his opponent visible through walls while playing. The post also includes a visual with the ice crystal graphic clearly visible, as though it were seeping through a pillar, behind which his opponent is apparently standing.

In addition to the problems of not being able to hide behind cover, other commenters have pointed out that the graphical effect is a detriment in general. Employing his wall ride ability, which allows Lucio to ride along walls and gives him a bonus to his movement speed when doing so, Lucio is one of Overwatch's more mobile characters. However, the added attention from the sparkling effect, which apparently has a very long draw distance, also increases his visibility when on the move.

At this time, Blizzard has not made any announcements as to how or when it plans to address the issue.
