Ashe is the gunslinger leader of the Deadlock gang who works with help from B.O.B., her trusty omnic companion. She uses a rifle which is dangerous at both close and long range. She does a tremendous amount of damage with a scoped-in headshot and can shoot fast from the hip.

Ashe is plays similarly to Cassidy, but she is unique and needs to be played correctly to be effective. Check out these tips and tricks to help all Ashe players achieve victory in Overwatch.

10/10 Know Your Counters

Having knowledge of who can counter Ashe effectively is key to winning a game. This might mean sticking with an ally who counters a specific enemy for you, or perhaps you might decide that Ashe isn't the right play for a specific match.

  • Winston - He can easily close on your position, and he's hard to shake as he can leap after Ashe with ease.
  • Roadhog - He can heal through Ashe's damage and hook her from a distance, one-shotting her.
  • Reinhardt - His shield can stop her ability to headshot and can nullify her dynamite.
  • Genji - He's usually too fast and mobile to get a decent shot off to do some real damage.
  • Widowmaker - Her sniper is too strong for Ashe to counter from range.
  • Moira - She can phase close to you, and her attacks won't miss. She can also place a healing orb down for herself to heal during the fight.
  • Wrecking Ball - This hamster has too much health and is far too mobile for Ashe--especially considering she can't headshot him while he's in his ball form.
  • Reaper - At close range, Ashe stands no chance against his shotguns.

9/10 Who Does Ashe Counter

When coming up against these characters, Ashe will be extra effective. This will be your chance to show off your skills as Ashe.

  • Cassidy - As long as he's not too close, this is an easy fight. Ashe has better range than Cassidy, and he doesn't have the same mobility as her.
  • Ana - She can't do as much damage on Ashe from range, giving Ashe a huge advantage even at close range.
  • Mercy - Mercy will usually heal from the back ranks, but Ashe's long range can pick her off from a good angle.
  • Zenyatta - From range, Zenyatta will struggle to do a good amount of damage before Ashe puts him down.
  • Sigma - Even though Sigma has a shield, he will move away from it and usually deploys it a bit in front of him. He has a shorter range than others and struggles with against characters at a medium distance.
  • Torbjorn - His turret can be taken out easily by Ashe, and he is one of the easiest characters to headshot.

8/10 Use Dynamite Constantly

Ashe posing with dynamite

This is one of the simplest abilities to use, yet it's so effective. Dynamite will do constant fire damage to enemies in its blast. It doesn't do much damage, but that extra damage may be the difference between who comes out on top in a skirmish. Hitting an enemy directly is the best way to ensure it'll be effective.

It can also be used for crowd control in the right situations. If the dynamite is thrown in front of an enemy, they won't be able to go through it or else they'll be damaged. This could give you time to find a better vantage point or for teammates to return to the battlefield.

7/10 Stay Back

Ashe can manage herself at close range, but it is far more dangerous than her staying back. Ashe tends to be more effective at long range and aiming down at enemies from a safer distance as her headshots do a serious amount of damage. She's also far less vulnerable from range. Staying back from the front lines is the best option for Ashe both offensively and defensively.

6/10 Coach Gun Out Of Trouble

Ashe uses coach gun on Soldier 76, Lucio and Cassidy

If an enemy is getting too close for comfort, just use her Coach Gun ability to get out of there. It'll push her back and push the enemy away, creating some much-needed breathing room in combat. This can save your life in many situations. For example, if Mei throws down her Blizzard Ultimate, Ashe can use her Coach Gun to get out of its range and be able to defend her frozen teammates. You can also save other teammates with a well-placed Coach Gun blast. For example, Reaper's Death Blossom requires close ranges. If coach gun is used on him and pushes him far away, he'll have less of a chance to kill your teammates with his Ultimate.

5/10 Use Coach Gun Vertically

Ashe is deadly from far range when using her rifle scoped in. The best way to do this is finding a spot up high and a safe distance from the battle. Aim Coach Gun underneath Ashe, and it will thrust you up to a rooftop, giving you a great vantage point. This can be also used to get up to an enemy who has already staked out a high vantage point and is poaching your team from above. A character like Widowmaker would lose a close-range battle with Ashe.

4/10 B.O.B Will Clutch

Ashe deploys BOB on Route 66

Ashe's Ultimate is unreal for crowd control. It adds another teammate with a ton of health that the enemy will need to deal with. No only do they have to worry about B.O.B. doing damage, but also the rest of the team charging in alongside B.O.B.. Using B.O.B is easy from a safe distance since he can run from a decent range into the enemy team.

While running, he can eliminate enemies, so keep that in mind before deploying him. B.O.B can hold the point and even contest it; he does some serious damage, and he has a pretty robust health pool, so it takes a while to destroy him.

3/10 Work With Healers

Mercy from Overwatch

Ashe isn't the fastest character, and she doesn't have any way to heal herself other than health packs. Having a healer like Mercy or Ana nearby who can heal Ashe quickly is your best option to stay on the battlefield. Ana is an especially good pairing since she can hang back with Ashe, sniping, and provide quick and easy healing. With Mercy's Guardian Angel ability to fly, she can reach Ashe from almost anywhere, granting quick spot heals during battle.

2/10 Keep Aiming In

Ashe does most of her damage while aiming down her sights. Hitting headshots isn't easy, but she'll take a chunk of damage of any character if successful. The only time she should be hip firing is if an enemy has gotten too close to scope in or else to finish off a character quickly before they get away. Otherwise, aiming down at her sights is the best way to ensure eliminating an enemy.

1/10 Synergize Abilities

Zarya uses graviton surge to gather all enemies.

As always, Zarya's Graviton Surge Ultimate will be mentioned. Even if B.O.B. isn't available, using the Dynamite against enemies captured within a Graviton Surge will be super effective. Also, activating B.O.B. alongside other Ultimates like Mei's Blizzard, Reinhardt's Earth Shatter or Sigma's Gravitic Flux is incredibly effective. B.O.B can tear through these enemies while they're immobilized, and he won't miss his shots. And When the enemies recover from the other Ultimate, they'll still have an additional enemy to worry about.
